Gabby D’Souza is an editor working in Wellington, New Zealand. She completed her Master of Fine Arts in Creative Practice at Te Herenga Waka at the beginning of 2023, and completed her Bachelor of Creative Media Production at Massey University in 2021. 

 

She has experience working on narrative short films, documentaries, children’s television shows, web-series, corporate and commercial videos, music videos and live edited events. She is proficient in

Avid Media Composer, Davinci Resolve Studio, Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro.

Gabby’s editing credits include Dive (2024), Express (2024), The Generation Gardener (2023), The Alphabet Mafia, Episode 1 (2023), Butterfly (2023)Tokorua Hei Kotahi (2023), Maisie & John (2023), Reasons (2022)Emperor (2022), Finding the Lighthouse (2021)Patricia Johnston (2020), Barlovska Craft Liqueurs (2020), Cheater vs. Cheetah (2020), More Than Music (2020), The Killing Moon (2019), Dance with Me (2019), Merciless (2018) and A Crime Overlooked (2017). She was assistant editor on Snare (2020) and The Understudy (2023) , and was the live vision-mixer and editor on Onscreen: Roles in the Screen Sector (2022).

Gabby worked on a number of projects while at university, including Finding the Lighthouse (2021), which has since had a successful festival run; winning a bronze award at the Best Design Awards, gold award for best student short film at the Independent Short Awards, Best LGBT film at the Best Indie Film Awards and it was screened at the Little Wing Film Festival. FTL was also in the official selection at OUT At The Movies International, Northern Festival of Cinema, Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival, The Film Collective and New Zealand Vision Feast.

 

While studying, Gabby completed an editing internship at Sonder Films, where she worked on docu-style projects for clients such as the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Culture & Heritage and People First.

 

Gabby aspires to establish a successful career in the post-production industry and hopes to work her way up to larger scale projects. Editing is something that Gabby has connected with for the majority of her life and she hopes to make a difference with her work.
